Student Showcase
In accordance with USF policies announced on March 11th, 2020, and in order to protect the health of students, faculty, staff, and the wider community, the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Student Showcase for Projects, Research, and Innovation will not be held this year.
We sincerely wish to thank the students who applied to present, as well as the faculty and staff members who assist in making this celebration of student research a success every year.

The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Student Showcase for Projects, Research, and Innovation is an opportunity for USF Sarasota-Manatee campus students to present academic work, learn from peers, and network with USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Faculty members. Academic projects, research experiments, innovative ideas, or visual/performing arts (music, drama, dance) from any USF Sarasota-Manatee campus college (College of Arts and Sciences, CSM, Muma College of Business, School of Hospitalty and Tourism Management) are eligible for consideration. Graduate and undergraduate students from all USF Sarasota-Manatee campus programs are encouraged to submit an abstract describing their research results or art project. The submission of team projects is welcomed.
Important Dates for the 2020 Showcase:
- January 2020 or earlier: Select a USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Faculty Member as a mentor and begin project.

Friday, February 7, 2020: Last day to notify the showcase committee (usfsm.showcase@gmail.com) of intent to submit an abstract.

Monday, February 10, 2020: Abstract submission opens online.

Friday, February 21, 2020: Last day to submit abstracts online. Questions? Contact usfsm.showcase@gmail.com.

Friday, March 6, 2020: Students notified of acceptance, presentation type, and presentation time by this date.

Week of March 23, 2020 (tentative): Writing and Presentation Workshops for accepted applicants [optional]

Friday, April 3, 2020: Showcase will be held throughout the day (~9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) in Selby Auditorium.
Eligibility
Any USF Sarasota-Manatee campus undergraduate or graduate student can apply.
To participate, students must be registered in the Spring 2020 semester.
USF Tampa campus, USF St. Petersburg campus, and Mote Marine students may participate if they have USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Faculty sponsor their work; these students will be judged in a separate category, “Affiliate Institutions,” and can only be eligible for merit awards.
Applicants must have a USF Sarasota-Manatee campus mentor to sponsor their submission.
Submit Your Work
All submissions require a 250-word abstract. A panel of faculty reviewers will evaluate submissions based on the project’s significance within its academic discipline. Examples of judging rubrics can be found on the "Submissions and Guidelines" page. Based on these reviews, the panel will select and invite students to present their work as a poster or oral presentation.
